Patricia Ann Johnson
Patricia Ann was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on December 7, 1954 to the union of Lewis Samuel and Roxianne. At an early age, she united with the Mt. Calm Baptist Church. Pat grew up in Centerville and was loved by all. She was very popular at her high school. She served as an officer in the Future Homemakers of America. She was a starter on the Centerville High School Basketball and Volleyball teams. She made history by becoming one of the first black cheerleaders and homecoming queen at Centerville High School. She graduated in 1973. Pat married Larry, her “football star” and the “love of her life” in April 1975. She treated her husband like a king. She was the only one who knew his heart. Larry joined the military and took his family on a voyage that would bring them numerous friends that they call family. They were blessed with three children: Khobi, Marlon and Larinae.
Pat was a renowned cook and hostess who often entertained a house full of family and friends. As a military wife, she discovered that there were few places for people to attain salon services so, she decided to become a cosmetologist. she was a stylist for over 25 years. After courageously battling cancer for over ten years, her life’s journey ended on July 23, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas. Patricia fully lived her life by being a inspiration to everyone she met along the way.
Pat leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband of 34 years, Larry “Pokey” Johnson; two sons, Khobi Johnson (Colleen) and Marlon Johnson (Melanie); a daughter, Larinae Johnson (fiancé-Jeremy Porter); three grandchildren, D’Von, Imani and Zachary; her parents, L.S. Washington and Roxianne Brown (Rev. R.C. Brown); six brothers, Tony Curtis Washington, Lewis Samuel Washington, Jr., Forrest Washington (Renell), Lorenda Washington, Kenneth Washington and Floydzell Washington; two sisters, Mary Mae Beard (Chester) and Shirley Tutt; sister-in-law, Carolyn Thompson; brotherin law, Dr. Frederick Shaw (Irma); five nieces; eleven nephews; one great niece and three great nephews. Pat’s extended family included Vanessa Johnson (Clyde), Johnetta Ferguson (Daryl), Harry and Jan Turman, Tina Scott, Sandra Wright-Dent, Deborah Brown. Benita Thompson, Debora Borders, Lisa Ento, Valeria White, Alicia Thrialkill, Wendy Henley, Ann Johnson, Vicki Smith, Lorna Johnson, Linda Hudson, Blender Hill, Doris Clay, Deon Scott, Rose Herzberg and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
Service were under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville.
