William Murray “Bill” Bunting
Funeral services for William Murray “Bill” Bunting, age 88, of Buffalo were held at 10 AM, Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Centerville. Pastor Morgan Hamilton officiated. Graveside services and burial were held that afternoon at 3 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston. Pastor Red Etzell officiated.
William Murray Bunting was born January 3, 1921 in Naples, Texas to William and Rose Bunting. He was raised in Naples. In 1941, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corp and served his country in Europe during World War II. Bill met Juanita Loraine Frazier in Dallas in 1947 and they married on March 17, 1948. Bill moved Juanita to Houston in 1949 where he worked for a construction company. In 1950, Bill went to work for Wiseman Trucking Company. He was employed by Mr. J.E. Wiseman until 1975. Bill and Juanita moved to Buffalo, Texas in December 1975 where he worked cattle for J.E. Wiseman on the JW Ranch. He also worked for Leon County driving a dump truck from 1984 until 1993.
Bill and Juanita were members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Centerville for more than 20 years. He served his church in many ways; he particularly enjoyed mowing the lawn and fish fries. Bill loved fishing, shopping trips with Juanita and his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren affectionately referred to him as “Pa-Paw” and will always remember him in his overalls and favorite hat.
Mr. Bunting was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita Bunting of Buffalo; his sons, Curtis Garner of Ratliff and Billy J. Garner of Houston; daughter, Connie Ferguson and her husband, Jerry, of Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bill Garner, Charles Garner, Chris Ferguson, Jerry Ferguson, Jr., John Garner and Mike Garner. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Ferguson, Sr. and Curtis Garner.
In lieu of flowers Bill’s family requests that memorials be given to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Walters Funeral Home in Centerville was in charge of arrangements.
