Beauty and the Beast is a family affair The Scott Bossier family had the time of their lives this summer and it wasn’t at Disney World or Six Flags. They were in the cast of Beauty and the Beast, a first time experience for the entire family. Rachel Bossier, mom, said the family was looking for a fun summer activity. The Bossier’s own Bossier Country Dodge and Chrysler dealership in Fairfield and with the current situation in the auto industry a trip this year was out of the question. They saw the advertisement in the paper asking for performers and Rachel and the girls decided to give it a shot. Dad, Scott had not planned to audition, but it became obvious that men were needed, so he stepped to the plate, or stage in this case, sang a couple of songs and landed a major role. Scott Bossier played Cogsworth, the head of the servants who became a clock. Rachel played the very vain Madame de la Grande Bouche who became a vanity wardrobe. Thirteen year old Bree played a silly girl who swoons after Gaston, the handsome bad guy. Eleven year old Brooke was a napkin; nine year old Britain played Chip who was turned into a teacup. Braden is seven years old and did not want to perform but bought Beauty and the Beast books and sold them in the lobby. Income from the sale went to the Palestine Community Theatre. More than one family with multiple participants was represented in the play. Director Jared Cook, also plays Le- fou Gaston’s cowardly friend; his father Michael Cook was Maurice, Belle’s father; his mother Amelia Cook played Mrs. Potts, the singing teapot; and sister Haley played one of the silly girls. The Hobbs family was represented by Adam and Jordan, both dancers; Judy Hobbs who plays a townsperson; and Tibitha Hobbs who was a “silly girl”. Michael and Michaela Page were both Dancers. “We have been concerned about the economy and how this summer would go, but this has turned out to be one of the best summers our family has ever experienced,” Rachel said of their adventure. |
