Community Calendar

The American Legion Post #335 of Leon County will hold our monthly meeting on Saturday August 1st at 6pm. The meeting is held at the Centerville municipal building located across from the Post Office. We would like to invite our members and their wives to attend. We will have hot dogs with all of the fixings, snacks and deserts and there will be coffee, tea and soft drinks available. The American Legion is open to all Veterans you are welcome to attend our meeting.

Meals on Wheels and the Palestine Senior Activity Center’s Dogwood Travelers are sponsoring a 10-day trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, October 16-25. The price is $954 for double occupany (more or less for single and triple occupancy) and includes motor coach transportation, nine nights lodging, 12 meals, two days of sightseeing on the Las Vegas Strip, the Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest National Parks, and shopping en route on Route 66. Help local cancer patients

Have you ever wanted to get involved in the fight against cancer in Leon County but just didn’t know what you could do?

On Thursday, July 30, at 6:30 p.m., at Farmer’s State Bank in Jewett, Trixy Roy with the American Cancer Society will share information on volunteer opportunities in Leon County. The need is great and you could be the one to help save someone’s life.
