The rain gauge proved we got a good 2-1/2 inches of rain. Sherry’s Shots The rain gauge proved we got a good 2-1/2 inches of rain. Sherry’s Shots Sitting on my front porch Thursday evening watching faint flickers of lightning in the distance, the thought occurred, “Wouldn’t it be nice if we got some rain.” The wind changed and blew from the north, cooling down the 100+ day.

Sonny Lathrop, long time Flo citizen, keeps up with rainfall in our community and his numbers reflect that we are far behind average. This statement can’t be a surprise since the pastures are brown and the stock tanks are extremely low.

I don’t know exactly what time I first heard the sound, that melody of raindrops on a tin roof, but I remember thinking “Thank you, Lord” before drifting back to sleep.

Friday morning was one of those cloudy, rainy days when neither Paul nor I had anything pressing, so I took my coffee and he took his cereal out to the porch and watched that beautiful wet stuff soak into our pasture and run into our stock tanks. The rain gage showed 2.5 inches and others reported 3 inches and more. Pennies from heaven, indeed.
