New cable barriers prove worth
While the recent rains were certainly welcomed by farmers and home-owners, it appears that local motorists have forgotten how to adjust their speed for wet road conditions.   Heavy rains came through the area on Sunday afternoon, and a car ended up against a tree on FM 831. DPS Trooper Seymore worked the accident, but no other details of the accident were available as of press time.   More...

Memorial services for Mr. Tommy Warren, 45, will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 7:00p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Buffalo. There will be a sign language interpreter at the service for Mr. Warren’s hearing impaired friends. Mr. Warren passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at his residence near Jewett.   He was born and raised in Mexia, but lived in Jewett for many years. Mr. Warren was a handy-man and small engine mechanic. He loved God, his family, and all animals. Mr. Warren attended Faith Baptist Church in Buffalo.   More...
