Lauretha (Harvey) Lacey Johnson

Funeral services for Lauretha (Harvey) Lacey Johnson, age 54, of Centerville, Texas were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. Elder C.D. Evans officiated at the service and the burial was in the Burton Cemetery which is located in south Leon County. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.

Lauretha Johnson was born on May 31, 1955 in Madisonville, Texas. She was raised by her grandparents, J.D. and Ruby Kelly of Centerville. She lived most of her life in Leon County and was a member of the Mt. Calm Pinetop Baptist Church of Centerville. She was a graduate of the Centerville High School and also graduated with a B.S. degree in dietetics from Prairie View A&M. At the time of her death, Lauretha was a Texas Work Advisor III with the Texas Health and Human Services in Madisonville. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother, Clara Cannon, her father, Henry Harvey and by a step-son, Michael Johnson. Lauretha Johnson died on July 5, 2009 in Temple, Texas.

Survivors include: her husband, Johnny Johnson of Centerville; step-sons, Cory Johnson, Jermaine Love and Phillip Lee all of Little Rock, Arkansas; step-daughters, Lasummer Johnson-Henderson, Stephanie Johnson and China Johnson all of Little Rock, Arkansas and Jaton Johnson and Lakeysha Johnson, both of Omaha, Nebraska; two loving aunts, Dorothy Mae Johnson of Centerville and Willie Mae Kelly of Houston; “brothers and sisters”, John, Lee, Roy, Jack, Jr. and Tilda and Fredrick, Earsel, Jr. and Kayla; a very special friend, Renee Sterns and step-father, Oliver Cannon.

Pallbearers were Bobby Joe Smith, Anthony “Pete” Johnson, Fred Johnson, Kenny Davis, Gary Bladen and Lee Lacey. Honorary pallbearers were Lee V. Johnson, John D. Johnson, Roy C. Johnson, Jack Johnson, Jr., Fredrick Kelly and Earsel Kelly, Jr.
