Fourth of July contest winners Centerville’s annual Funtier Days Fourth of July celebration was well attended, and the various events also drew good participation this year. Winners in the various events are listed below. The top entries in the Antique Car Show were: 1st - Gary Nunley; 2nd - Bill Earnest; 3rd - Colby Gradner. There was a tie in the Antique Tractor Show between Blain Council and Gary Bob Wood. The popular Quilt Show had many entries and drew a large crowd of quilting enthusiasts. First place went to Noveline Price’s entry “Candle Wicking”; 2nd place was Nell Linton’s “Modified Log Cabin”, and 3rd was Betty Smith’s “Butterfly Quilt”. The Viewer’s Choice Award went to Anna Jane Rodell’s “Star Log Cabin” quilt. There was a great turnout for this year’s parade and the deserving Parade Winners were led by Sweepstakes Winner Langley’s Grocery. Organization winners were (1st) Boy Scout Troop 6335; (2nd) Leona Volunteer Fire Department, (3rd) Chapel of the Hills. Religious Category winners were (1st) First United Methodist, (2nd) Our Savior Lutheran, (3rd) Leona Baptist Church. In the Business Category, (1st) Doak Construction, (2nd) Bonnie Robertson/Lexas Living Real Estate, (3rd) C&T Road Service. Individual Category winners included: (1st) Susie, Carolyn and Sadie; (2nd) Blane Council with his 1936 John Deere; (3rd) Jerry and Linda Fling, Homer and Dee. Topping the Auto Category were: (1st) Rex Stell driving his 1918TM Ford, (2nd) Bill Earnest’s ‘66 Ford pickup, (3rd) Ed Hoop. The Bicycle Category winners were (1st) Dominique Williams and (2nd) Cameron Williams. In the ATV Category, (1st) Morgan Carrigan, (2nd) Preston Kornegay, (3rd) Gilbert Gresham. The Wagons Category winners were: (1st) David Drew and Billy Morgan; (2nd) Patsy Davis with her Dolly Cart, and (3rd) Tracy Dupree. Horsemanship Category: (1st) Tuffy Loftin, (2nd) Ardoin Family, and (3rd) Cheyenne Reese; Horse Theme Decoration Category: (1st) Callie Morgan, (2nd) Rowdie Harris, (3rd) Karissa Noe. Some entries prompted judges to create an extra category -- Unique Category, where the winners were: (1st) Frontier Pest Control, (2nd) 1957 Chevy BelAire Shar Bernet, and (3rd) Huebner Christmas Tree Farm. At the conclusion of this year’s 42 Tournament, the winning teams were: (1st place) Wayne Bell and Tommy Holmes; (2nd place) Kim and Jesse Sisco; (3rd) Rita Conklin and Laverne Gordon. Other participants included Kenny and Scotty Fielder, Carl and C.J. Els, Ronnie and Joe Langley, Jay and Ben Neubauer, Robert Campbell and Homer Kelly, and Steve and Seth McKinney. |
