AUSTIN -- The Texas average rig count as of June 19 was 329, representing about 40 percent of all active land rigs in the United States. In the last 12 months, total Texas reported production was 348 million barrels of oil and 7.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Texas natural gas production represents approximately 29 percent of total U.S. natural gas demand. The Commission’s estimated final production for April 2009 is 29,681,153 barrels of crude oil and 597,188,582 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas well gas. More ... MAY PERMITS TO DRILL The Commission issued a total of 771 original drilling permits in May 2009 compared to 1,899 in May 2008. The May total included 618 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 25 to re-enter existing well bores, and 128 for re-completions. AUSTIN – (June 29, 2009) For the week ending June 27, 2009, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were mostly steady to $3 higher per hundred-weight, but some lateweek sales were as much as $3 lower, especially on calves weighing less than 500 pounds. Finished cattle prices were steady. Cotton prices were unchanged and grain prices were lower. As for futures markets, feeder cattle, finished cattle and cotton were higher, while wheat, corn and lumber were lower. With notices posted at the VFD and City Hall the Oakwood Volunteer Fire Department had hoped to stop everyone from burning anything unless in a barrel.
