Buffalo’s senior citizens enjoyed a pot luck lunch, friendly fellowship and an encouraging message during last Tuesday’s monthly meeting of AARP Chapter #2870.
Harold Richmond of Edward Jones Investments was the guest speaker, and he reported that the economy IS turning around and things are getting better. “Our backs have been put against the wall and we’ve come out fighting!” Richmond pointed out, emphasizing that the stock market has rebounded 30% since the low two months ago, caused by the credit crisis. The crowd appreciated Richmond’s parting advice: “If you really want to get rid of bad news, turn off your t.v. We still live in the best country on the fact of the Earth -- and don’t let anyone tell you differently!”
The crowd of 39 members and guests celebrated the 56-year anniversary of Nettie and Ebb Haynie and birthdays of Henry Meek, Howard Delius and Linda Woodson.
