This Kids Kamp really cooked

What do you get when you combine 26 Leon County youth and some great food recipes? Another exciting Kids Kamp! Camp Chef was held in the Jewett Civic Center Community Room on June 2, 2009, from 8 a.m. to noon.
This Kids Kamp was based on teaching youth some of the basics of nutrition, how to cook interesting dishes, and the proper way to set the table. There were 5 different stations that the children worked with: the Smoothie station run by Ryan McCarty; the Trail Mix station run by Justin Pistone; the “Ace in the Hole” station run by Regan Robertson and Caleb Wright; the Placemat placement reminder station run by Cayla Christianson; and the Apple Pancake station run by Wendy Neyland. All of the children visited every station and were able to make all of the things demonstrated for them.
All twenty-six participants were rewarded not only with the knowledge that they took home, but they received a set of measuring cups, measuring spoons, a cookbook and a cool chef’s hat. A special thanks goes to our sponsors, Busy B Ranch and the Jewett Chamber of Commerce, for making all of this fun possible.
