Cattle Tuberculosis Confirmed in Texas
      Cattle tuberculosis (TB) has been confirmed in a west Texas dairy that has been quarantined since April when some cattle in the herd responded to a TB test being conducted prior to a sale. (The sale was cancelled.) The cattle TB diagnosis was confirmed at the National Veterinary Services Laboratory (NVSL) in Ames, Iowa, where M. bovis, or cattle TB bacteria, was grown or “cultured” from tissues that had been collected during the necropsy of the test-positive cattle.

More work to be done for eminent domain reform
      Austin, Texas - The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) today urged Texans to support a constitutional amendment in November that would limit entities from condemning private property for public development, but urged Governor Perry to use a special session to address eminent domain reform that would further protect property owners. "While the constitutional amendment is a good first step, there is more work to be done to address eminent domain law in the state of Texas," TSCRA President Dave Scott, a rancher from Richmond, Texas, said.

Too early to assess extent of hail damage to cotton
      COLLEGE STATION - Hail accompanied intense thunderstorms and winds as high as 80 mph in parts of the Texas High Plains, but it's too early to assess how many cotton and corn acres were damaged, according to a Texas AgriLife Extension Service agronomist.

     So many events, too little time (& column space!) Its summer time and everyone is scheduling events like they are cheaper by the dozen! This week the ABGA National Shows and Meetings are in the spotlight for the caprine industry. Next week is the Freestone County Fair and Youth Livestock Shows. This is a big event for the Freestone Co, Goat Breeders Assn. what with all of the goats that were bred by members being shown.
