Lone Star Community Center a “Grimey”place on Saturday

Sherry’s Shots Over 100 folks of Grimes heritage met at the Lone Star Community Center for their annual family reunion. The Grimes family has been in Leon County since the late 1800s and have many descendants scattered throughout the Leon County communities.

Winnie Hodges, longtime resident of Oakwood, is among the elders of the group now, along with her brother Tommy Grimes who lives in Robbins.

Connecticut was the place from which the person traveled the farthest and Flo was the closest. Kenny and Denita Grimes have a home in the Flo area less than two miles from the Community Center.

The family was well prepared with enough food to feed an army and auction items to go toward next year’s expenses. They even had a blow up slide to entertain the younger Grimes. It was obvious that the Grimes group loved getting together.
