General rules for Fourth of July Home and Garden Fair Begin preparation to enter a project, or several of them, in the 4th of July Home and Garden Fair! Rules are as follows:General Rules 1. The 4th of July Leon County Home and Garden Fair is open to all residents of Leon County and those who go to school in Leon County. All exhibits must be the work of the contestant. 2. This fair is established for participation by amateurs, not professional or commercial exhibitors being defined as sole support derived from sale of item(s). 3. All entries EXCEPT Baked Goods and Horticulture are to be brought to the Fellowship Hall of the Centerville First United Methodist Church Thursday, July 2, 2009, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Baked Goods and Horticulture Entries are to be brought between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009. All items will be judged beginning at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009. 4. Entry fees are $1.00 per item per adult and $.50 per item per youth. 5. All entries must be left on display until check-out time on Saturday, July 4, 2009, between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. 6. Entries will be placed in appropriate division and class by the committee members and their decisions are final. 7. The Home and Garden Fair committee has the right to combine, create, or subdivide classes if deemed necessary. 8. All articles that are soiled or unfit for exhibition will NOT BE ACCEPTED for display. 9. Awarding of ribbons shall be left to the discretion of the judges, with the decision based on the worthiness of the entry. 10. Participants may NOT enter MORE THAN ONE article in each class with an exception in food preservation and fresh fruits and vegetables. 11. All entries must be picked up during the times stated in rule #5. The committee will not be responsible for items not picked up at the times stated above. 12. All youth participants will be required to write a “thank you” note to the buyer of their entry before receiving any auction monies. 13. Exhibits will be watched. Every precaution will be taken to protect all exhibits, but in no case will the Home and Garden Fair Committee be held responsible for loss, damage, theft, breakage and/or others forms of loss or damage. This includes all items left at the designated building during and immediately following the Fair. 14. Baked Goods and Fresh Fruits and Vegetables will be sold by silent auction on Saturday, July 4, 2009; from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Proceeds of youth entries will be returned to youth. Proceeds of adult entries will benefit the Home and Garden Fair to defray costs and the FCS Program Fund to provide other educational programs. All items will be sold unless otherwise indicated on entry forms. 15. All items will be judged with a Blue, Red, or White Award designated with a ribbon. Best of class will receive a special ribbon. Best of Division will be chosen from all Best of Class awards in each division and will receive a rosette. 16. All items should have been made within the past year. 17. The County Extension Agent will have the final say regarding acceptance of all entries. Judging Categories Pee Wee Division.......................... Ages 4-7 Junior Division........................ Ages 8-12 Senior Division...Ages 13-18 Adult Division...Ages 19 and up Exceptional Citizens - Classes will be created in all divisions as needed. |
