Relay for Life Friday evening at Leon High

Leon County residents will have a great opportunity to pull together for a special cause this weekend. Relay for Life will take place throughout the evening of Friday, June 12 at Leon High School. The annual event begins at 7:00 p.m. with the Survivors Lap, and 160-170 cancer survivors are expected to participate. Another highlight of the event will be a poignant luminaria ceremony which will be held at 9:00 p.m. focusing on those who have lost the fight but live on in our hearts.

The swine flu scare forced organizers to reschedule this year's Relay, originally slated to be held in April. Everyone in the community is encouraged, therefore, to make a special effort to participate and ensure that this year's Relay for Life gets the emphasis it deserves. Come out on Friday and join in this celebration of life and reflection on the impact that cancer has on a community. Bring your checkbook and share with the same generosity as in previous years as we remember and support the people and families who have struggled with cancer. It's a great opportunity to serve your neighbors, and will be a lot of fun!
