Saluting the Honor Graduates of Centerville High Class of 2009
      Commencement Exercises are slated for 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29th at the new CHS gymnasium. Valedictorian Rachel Robeson Miss Robeson, a National Merit Scholar, is the daughter of Karen and James Robeson. She has attended Centerville schools since kindergarten.

Community's generosity showered on seniors
      Students of the 2009 graduating class of Buffalo High School will enter college with a boost, thanks to the generous support of this community. $185,630 in scholarship monies were awarded during an awards program at the BHS auditorium on Monday evening, May 25.

      The 2009 Buffalo High School Academic Banquet took place on Monday, May 25 at the BHS auditorium. Outstanding students in each grade level were honored for accomplishments ranging from all star student to UIL scholar to perfect attendance.

BES students enjoy Fun Day activities
      Buffalo Elementary students have always looked forward to Field Day, when they pit their athletic skills against their classmates for the coveted blue, red and white ribbons. The end-ofschool activity has grown to be even more exciting in recent years with the addition of water fun, including inflatable water slides, courtesy of the PTO.

BISD Musicians spotlighted
      Band Director Todd Baker and the music department at BISD presented their Spring Concert on Thursday, May 21st at the BHS Auditorium. The 6th Grade Beginning Band opened the concert, then were joined by the 7th Grade Band. The seventh graders also performed one number with the Bison High School Band, then the high schoolers performed their program featuring show tunes.

FBC Preschoolers celebrate end of school term
      The Preschool at First Baptist Church of Buffalo had a banner year, topped off with graduation ceremonies for their 3-year-old and 4-yearold classes last week.

Honor Graduates of the Buffalo High School Graduating Class of 2009
      Valedictorian De'Anne Sterling Miss Sterling is the daughter of Precillar Ann Reed and sister of Aaron, Dion and Lakisha Reed.. She has attended BISD since kindergarten. De'Anne plans to attend UT Tyler where she will focus on studies to pursue a career as a social worker or lawyer.

Congratulations to the BJHS Eighth Grade graduates
      Buffalo Junior High held their Eighth Grade Graduation Ceremony on Friday evening, May 22. A large group, they are sending 69 to Buffalo High School next year. The celebration included the presentation of student awards, a slide show, reception and dance.

     BHS senior Andrew Roberts helps pack away the classroom sets of books as the 2008-09 school year winds down to a close. Senior activities during this final week of school will include the Awards/Scholarship Ceremony on Monday, Baccalaureate Services on Thursday, a senior luncheon at First Baptist Church on Friday, Graduation on Friday evening at the BHS gym followed by Project Graduation.

Nelson signs to run for Lon Morris
      Buffalo High's standout distance runner, Chad Nelson, this week signed to run on the cross-country team at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville. The signing ceremony took place on Friday morning at the BHS library.

Master Gardener training course set for July 31st
      The AgriLIFE Extension Service in Leon County will begin a new program for Master Gardeners on July 31, 2009. This highly trained core of volunteers will assist with programs and projects in Leon County. Master Gardeners are members of the local community who take an active interest in their lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and gardens.

Home and Garden Tour an exceptional experience
      The 2009 Spring Home Garden Tour was held on May 16, 2009 and sponsored by The Texas AgriLife Extension Service in Leon County. This year's tour featureed 2 private gardens in the western portion of the county one demonstrating the use of shade plants and the other how to use a pool in the layout.

NORTH CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH
      The revival was a real success. It ran through Wednesday evening and at the end of the last service there were nine persons who went up for salvation or rededication. All of us are feeling the spirit closer than before. On the morning of Sunday May 31st the singing family "The Telestials" will be at North Creek to renew a long standing relationship.

Remembering Our Brave Service Members This Memorial Day & Protecting Their Rights
      The month of May is dedicated to honoring our military service members. It is Military Appreciation Month, during which we mark Armed Forces Day, as well as Memorial Day, which falls this year on May 25. Memorial Day is a day of remembrance - a day when we honor the heroes who gave their lives to defend our land of liberty.

      On this Memorial Day, members of the Colonel George Dashiell Chapter, DAR, placed U. S. Flags on the Veterans' graves in three Leon County Cemeteries.

      The Baccalaureate Ceremony for the 2009 graduates of Buffalo High School has been slated for Thursday, May 28th at 7:00 PM at Buffalo's Celebration Church. The Buffalo High School Graduation ceremony is set for Friday, May 29th at 8:00 PM at the HS gymnasium.
