Buffalo PD reminds drivers to buckle up
      A 2007 study revealed that of the 254 counties in Texas, Leon County was in the upper third percentile for fatalities in car accidents due to unrestrained occupants. Studies also show that a large percentage of deaths resulting from unbuckled occupants throughout the state involved teenage drivers.

4th Annual Leon County Regional Police Memorial Service
      The 4th annual Leon County Regional Police Memorial Service was held at the park in Jewett on May 13, 2009 with over one hundred persons in attendance. The D.P.S. Buffalo School Board takes care of business in mixed session
      The Buffalo ISD School Board spent the early moments of their May 18th meeting canvassing the votes of the May 9, 2009 Board member election, then formally confirmed the re-election of Willie Gilliam to Position 7; Gene Pruitt, Jr. to Position 3; and Jennifer Humphries to Position 6 after defeating challengers Scott Glick and Jeff Jones.

Oakwood City Council has uneventful meeting. And that's a good thing!!
      The Oakwood City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 12, at the Oakwood City Hall. Lewis Miller, the new interim Police Chief, was in attendance. The Council voted to follow FEMA guidelines if a request is made to build a structure in a flood plain.

Jamboree rocks the Lone Star Community Center
      Another Flo Jamboree was held at the Lone Star Community on Saturday night, May 16th. There was a nice crowd in attendance despite it being Buffalo Prom night. Nick Watson and the New Connection made up of musicians from the tri-county area provide entertainment for the crowd, and Sweet Harmony made up of four ladies from Hilltop Lakes also played and sang.
