      The first Saturday of each month is music jam time at Tommy's Music in Center- ville. Any given jam session will find from 10 to 25 musicians playing and singing everything from 50s rock and roll to old time county classics. The public is invited at no cost. Just drag up a chair and enjoy.

Birth Announcement
      Robin and Eric Dunn are proud to announce the arrival of their son, Tanner Michael Dunn, who was born on April 9, 2009 at St. Josephs Hospital in Bryan, Texas. He weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 21 inches long. His grandparents are Larry and Monica Grissett of Buffalo, Patti Dunn of Navasota, and Mike and Shirley Dunn of Hilltop Lakes.

This week's cook is Lorene Clute who is a very lively 91 years old, soon to be 92, and she is an inspiration to anyone with whom she comes in contact. Mrs. Clute says she thinks she must have good genes. She is one of five siblings.

      All veterans are invited to attend Veterans Appreciation Day on Saturday, May 16 at Centerville High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Representatives from TVC, the Texas Land Board, the Temple VA Hospital, and the VA will be present. Information will be provided regarding new/changed benefits.

      Mother's Day is coming up this weekend and Friends, this is your wake-up call. My own mother suffered with an illness last month. She's recovering nicely, but it made me especially cognizant this year of what a precious blessing it is to be able to celebrate our mothers.

Buffalo Community Blood Drive
      The American Red Cross will host a blood drive for the Buffalo community on Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Buffalo Masonic Lodge behind Davis Country Store. Donors must be in good health, weigh 110 pounds or more, and be at least 17 years old.

April News from The Plaza
      We have had an exciting month. We are starting our warm weather off with ice cream socials every Friday. We had our Easter Celebration on the 10th, with residents and family members enjoying an Easter egg hunt and music with Susan Helmcamp dressed in her chicken suit.

      We started our week off with a bang when River of Life Church came for their regular service. We are indeed blessed to have all the churches as part of our religious program. Monday morning, bright and early, Ephesus Baptist from Jewett were here to pick and sing for us. We always have a blessing from this group.
