The fiddlers are coming to town
      Last year on May 10 this community was treated to something special when the Old Time Fiddlers Contest brought a wonderful family of fiddlers to town. And this year they are coming back on May 2. The Nugents are a family of eight talented children, who all participate in competitions around the state.

Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes
      Texas AgriLife Extension Service Leon County will be hosting Do Well, Be Well with Crown Health Services each Wednesday in May, beginning at 10:00 am until noon, at the First United Methodist Church of Centerville fellowship hall. The program will be free of charge. Classes will be held May 6th, May 13th, May 20th, and May 27th.

Local artists find common ground
      Artsy folk in our community have a new outlet to encourage their creative "juices". An open invitation of The Horses Mouth in Buffalo drew a good-sized group to a meeting of local artists, want-to-be artists and others too modest to even claim the title. Each guest told about their interest in art and shared a piece of their artwork if they wished to.

Veterans Appreciation Day
      All veterans are invited to attend Veterans Appreciation Day on Saturday, May 16 at Centerville High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Representatives from TVC, the Texas Land Board, the Temple VA Hospital, and the VA will be present. Information will be provided regarding new/changed benefits.

      Our Cook Out was a great success, according to all who were there. I thank all the volunteers who helped in my absence.
