Helen Louise "Sissy" Barnett Funeral services for Helen Louise Barnett, age 80, of Houston were held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo. Rev. Joe Clark officiated and burial was in the Parker Cemetery in rural northeast Leon County. Helen Barnett was born in Flo, Texas on February 17, 1929 to Jasper Columbus and Nannie (Page) Barnett. She was raised in the Flo Community and, in 1957, she moved to Houston. She worked 20 years at the Bemis Bag Co. and about 10 years at Orlikon Welding Products. She enjoyed attending church and was a member of the "World Apart Ministries" in Houston. Her family remembers her as always having a smile. She was never married, but her nieces and nephews were her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and by three of her brothers, Terrell, Marvin, and Bill Barnett. Miss Helen died April 9, 2009 while in a Houston Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. Surviving family members include two brothers, Joe "Pete" Barnett of the Flo Community in Leon County and J.V. Barnett and his wife, Norene, of Weatherford, Texas and by two sisters, Shelby Greenwood and her husband, Arthur, of Houston, Texas and Pinkie Baker and her husband, James L.., of Nacogdoches, Texas. The pallbearers were Ronnie Barnett, Steve Greenwood, Curtis Greenwood, Wayne Barnett, Kendall Barnett, Craig Greenwood, Ricky Barnett, and Andy Greenwood. The honorary pallbearers were Scooter Barnett, Wilbur Lee Barnett, Lannie Ray Barnett, and Miles Baker. Walters Buffalo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. |
