Bond lowered to $20,000 for Ivy

Former Oakwood Police Chief Oly Ivy, accused of shooting his live-in girlfriend with a taser weapon, underwent pshychological tests last week, as ordered by District Judge Kenneth Keeling. Keeling required the tests prior to ruling on a request to reduce the $100,000 bond set in the case. Following the evaluation in Huntsville the bond was lowered to $20,000 and on Friday afternoon the bail was posted and Ivy was released. He still faces a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Oakwood City Secretary Stacy Salguero confirmed that the city is taking steps to replace the Chief, but anticipates that the process of interviews and background checks will take some time. In the meantime, two reserve officers are working part-time in Oakwood.
