4-H Record book training is one for the records!

4-H members participate in a round of 4-H Record book Jeopardy with District 8 4-H Specialist Laura Huebinger. 4-H members participate in a round of 4-H Record book Jeopardy with District 8 4-H Specialist Laura Huebinger. Leon County 4-H held its annual Record Book Training on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Centerville High School Cafeteria. Laura Huebinger, District 8 4-H Specialist, presented different ways to keep records of 4-H projects in Record books, the little things that make a difference, and the importance of keeping records of extracurricular activities for award and scholarship purposes.

4-H Record books are kept on the projects 4-H members have completed and the past 4 years of work are emphasized. Mrs. Huebinger pointed out that it is never too late to start a 4-H Record book and encouraged 4-H members to begin keeping records from their very first 4-H meeting. After a great meal provided by Country Cousins, 4-H members participated in a lively round of Record book Jeopardy.

The training was open to any 4-H member and parent in Leon County and in surrounding counties. If you have any questions on 4-H Record books, please contact Texas AgriLife Extension Service in Leon County at 903-536- 2531. All 4-H awards in Leon County are awarded through Record books. Record books are due to the Extension office in Leon County by June 1, 2009.
