The Centerville Lady Tigers' track team, anchored by talented multi-event freshman Callie Padgett (LEFT) and tiny-but-tough senior Isabel Reyes ( RIGHT), earned the title of District Champions in the district meet in Groveton last week. The Bison men began district competition at Groveton on Monday with a slow start but before all was said and done, BHS had qualified their largest team for the Regional Qualifiers Meet in several years. Six Bison men will be competing at Whitehouse on May 1-2, with another going as an alternate. More ... The Lady Bison track team qualified five members in five events for the Region III meet in Whitehouse on May 1st and 2nd. In addition to the regional berths, Buffalo scored 91 points on their way to a third place finish at the district meet in Groveton last week. Centerville and Trinity came in first and second in the team standings. More ... The Centerville Lady Tigers remained tied for first in District 21-2AA by defeating New Waverly 12-2 in Centerville on April 14th. The April 17th game against Camden-Corrigan was rained out and rescheduled for Monday, April 20. More ... The absence of lights at the Bison baseball facility limits the number of outings which the junior varsity team gets in, but the younger Bison did see action on Friday when they travelled to Corrigan- Camden. Calvin Young scored the Bison's only run, coming in on an overthrown ball. More ... Hilltop Lakes golfers enjoyed several tournaments last week. In the mens Four-Man Scramble the first place team - with a score of 63 - was Ron Gibson, Billy Rowe, Dale Recknor, and Bill Fathke. Close on their heels in second place with a score of 64 was the team of Doug Sassman, Wayne Brougher, Terry Hinton, and Dub Taylor. More ... BHS Seniors Ashley Elsom and Jami Davis were named to the 2009 Academic All State Team by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. To be eligible for the honor, senior athletes must carry and A-average. More ... The young Bison baseball team continues to improve, and this week gave two strong teams a run for their money. More ... The 2009 softball season has been a tight race in District 21AA, and the outcome is coming down to the final week of play. On Tuesday Corrigan-Camden gave a last-inning rally, but Buffalo held on for a two-run win over the Lady Bulldogs to drop Corrigan-Camden back one game in the district race. More ... |
