Lone Ranger and Tonto ride again
      The Texas State Railroad will host The Lone Ranger and Tonto on April 25 and 26 and June 13. The ride lasts approximately one hour, and trains depart at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Regular seating on the train costs $19 for children and $34 for adults. Climate controlled seating is $23 for children and $38 for adults.

Jewett's 10th annual Home and Garden Show a success dispite bad weather
      Despite tornados and torrential rains citizens braved the weather to participate in the 10th Annual Jewett Area Chamber of Commerce Home and Garden Show. With Saturday morning beginning with a tornado sighting in Marquez the planners of the event were afraid attendance might be a little iffy.

      AUSTIN - (April 13, 2009) For the week ending April 11, 2009, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were mostly steady to $4 higher per hundredweight, with some as much as $10 higher. Fed cattle prices also increased in response to higher beef prices. Cotton prices were higher on USDA projections for improved demand and increased exports.

Cattle Theft Bill passes Texas State Senate
      Fort Worth, Texas -The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association today applauded the Texas State Senate for passing SB 1163, a bill to increase the penalty for cattle theft in Texas. The bill, introduced by Senator Kel Seliger (R-Amarillo), passed the Senate by a vote of 28-2.
