Leon ISD renews contracts of all high school teachers The Leon Independent School District Board of Trustees met in a special called meeting on Tuesday, March 24. In a previous meeting some teachers' contracts had not been renewed and that business needed to be finalized. At the beginning of the meeting Mark Xenakis gave a presentation on the progress of construction of the new high school and field house buildings. Plans are to construct both buildings simultaneously. The high school is expected to take 14 months to complete and the field house, six months. At 11:00 a.m. on the morning of the 24th Xenakis' committee met with contractors for both buildings and County Commissioner Mark Ivey. One of the major concerns was TexDot and the need to cut a road for the entrance to the buildings off of highway 79. Bids on constructing the building will be open on 4-7-09 and on 4-13 plans will be submitted to the Board. At 7:15 p.m. the Board went into executive session to discuss personnel matters. IT'S NOT JUS T A When moving to open session the Board voted to renew the contracts of all high school teachers and accepted the resignation of Rusty Robinson, high school junior varsity basketball coach and assistant varsity football coach. |
