Leon ISD renews contracts of all high school teachers

      The Leon Independent School District Board of Trustees met in a special called meeting on Tuesday, March 24. In a previous meeting some teachers' contracts had not been renewed and that business needed to be finalized. At the beginning of the meeting Mark Xenakis gave a presentation on the progress of construction of the new high school and field house buildings.

LCRTA celebrates the beginning of Spring

      The Leon County Retired Teachers Association met for their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 25 in Centerville at 12:00 pm at the Municipal Building. The festive decorations for the March luncheon helped to usher in the beginning of spring. March host and hostesses were Bill and Ruby Vest, Margaret Heggins and Jane Ann Durbin.

Commissioners Court OK's veterans service office move
      A conflict with the commissioners training agenda mandated that the Leon County Commissioners Court meet late, so court was moved from Wednesday, March 25 to Friday, March 27th. All officials were present.

Leon County Grand Jury returns eleven true bills
      Whitney T. Smith, District Attorney met with the Leon County Grand Jury members March 26, 2009 and presented eleven cases of crimes alleged to have occurred in Leon County, for their review. An indictment (true bill) was returned on ten cases and one case was passed.
