Leon County Health Fair slated for April 22nd
      Join us to discover the treasure of life: Good Health! Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., will bring to Leon County the 2nd Annual Health Fair. The Health Fair will be held in the Leon High School Gym, in Jewett, Texas. The Health Fair is brought to Leon County by the efforts of the Leon County Health Resource Center.

Leon County Cooks: LeNei Cadenhead
      This week's Leon County cook is a native who grew up in Buffalo and graduated from BHS in 1995. LaNei Cadenhead earned a degree in Agricultural Development from Texas A&M. She married her high school sweetheart, Trey Cadenhead, in May of 2003 and the couple has two children, four year old Maddie and Jake who is 16 months old.

Texas High School Rodeo Region IX finals held March 28th at Porth Arena
      The Texas High School Rodeo Association, Region IX, wrapped up their 2009 season with their Finals Rodeo on March 28 at Crockett's Porth Arena. When the dust finally settled, the scores of Saturday's events were tabulated and combined with those of the previous eleven rodeos to determine event winners and special awards.

Area high schools compete in UIL One Act Play competitions
      The Buffalo High School theater troupe, directed by Jill Oliver Henson, participated in Zone One Act Play competition on Friday afternoon at Huntsville High School, and was one of two teams to advance to the District competition. Centerville High School, directed by Nikki Erickson, also advanced to the district competition with their play, "Sugar Bean Sisters".

NORTH CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH
      The fifth Sunday dinner was well attended and everyone left filled to capacity. Next Sunday the evening service is cancelled in favor of going to the service of Chapel of the Hills in Centerville. There is a meeting of all interested churches and it is famed to be quite a get together. The church bus will be operated for persons interested in riding it.

      A fish supper for lent will be held at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church Parish Hall on Fridays March 6, 13, and 27 and April 3 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 200 N. Merrill St. in Buffalo.

Brookshire Brothers plans Spring sidewalk sale
      The Buffalo Brookshire Brothers will usher in the warm season by hosting their annual Spring Sidewalk Sale on April 3rd and 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Store Director Randall LaCour shared, "This is my first one and I want to try to have a blowout -- get as many people as I can in the parking lot!

James Stanton celebrates eighty good years
      James Stanton has not lived in Buffalo all his life, but just about. He grew up in St. Augustine, Texas and moved here when he was 20 years old. In 1952 he went into service for his country and came back to Buffalo in 1954. When James was 49 years old he married the love of his life, Jean, a native Buffalo girl.

      Thomas and Carolyn Henson proudly announce the engagement of their daughter Christine Carolyn Henson to Brian Charles Bedre, son of Eddie Ray and Mary Bedre of Palestine. Christine is a 2005 graduate from Buffalo ISD and a 2008 graduate from The University of Texas at Tyler.
