This year's Leon County Youth Livestock Show kicked off on Monday, March 30 with a Halter Heifer Show and a Meet and Greet Event. According to Russell Jonas, this is the first year to have such an event and the purpose is to get the owners and the buyers acquainted. More...

The Leon Independent School District Board of Trustees met in a special called meeting on Tuesday, March 24. In a previous meeting some teachers' contracts had not been renewed and that business needed to be finalized. Funeral services for Mr. Ernest Byfield Taylor, 82, will be held at First United Methodist Church in Jewett at 11:00a.m. Thursday April 2, 2009.
