Freestone Deputies arrest would-be truck driver

During the early morning hours of 03-17-09, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Freestone County deputies surprised a man at Mike Daniel Construction on FM-27, in the process of stealing a company truck. The man, identified as Michael Shane House of Brownsboro, had cranked the truck and pulled up to a gate to exit. At this time patrol cars blocked the gate and House quickly exited the stolen truck and ran into a wooded area.

Other arriving Officers set up a perimeter and a search was begun. Deputies Thomas Hendrix and James Barrentine, Jr. walked into the wooded area a short distance and observed House laying face down in a fetal position. House was apprehended and handcuffed.

House was transported to the Freestone County Jail where he has been charged with two offenses: Theft Over $20,000 and Evading Arrest or Detention. Mr. House remained in jail as of this writing. He is currently out on bond on another theft charge in a Northeast Texas County and has a lengthy criminal history.

Other officers assisting in the arrest were Deputies Cory House and Jeremy Shipley. All officers are to be commended for their actions.
