Wildlife judging team competes at Houston Livestock Show

The Leon County 4-H Wildlife Judging teams competed in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Wildlife and Recreation Management CDE on March 14, 2009 in Richmond, Texas. The team comprised of Shelton Largent, Jordin Chase, Ryan McCarty and Jacob Dunn placed 23rd out of 46 teams. The team of Caleb Wright, Kirk Mitcham, Moriah Mitcham and Blake McCarty placed 28th. Kirk Mitcham was 44th high place individual and Shelton Largent was 54th high place individual out of 148 contestants. FFA and 4-H teams across Texas compete in this contest each year. The contest consists of wildlife identification, wildlife biological facts, hunter safety, compass and pacing, Texas game laws, plant identification and habitat evaluation. Congratulations to these teams for their accomplishments and braving the cold and rain that day!!!
