      AUSTIN - (March. 16, 2009) For the week ending March 14, 2009, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were down less than 50 cents per hundredweight from a week ago. Higher prices on Monday and Friday nearly offset mid-week declines. Cotton prices were unchanged for the week amid lingering concerns about demand.

Time for 4-H showpersons to order tags
      All Leon County 4-H and FFA Members wishing to show steer projects at the Major Shows in Texas in 2010 need to order tags by contacting the Texas AgriLife Extension Service at 903-536-2531 by April 15, 2009. Each tag will cost $10.00 and the tags will not be ordered until payment is received. Members may order by mail by sending payment to the Leon County 4-H P.O.

BJHS boys shine in 4-H shooting competition
      Two Buffalo Junior High students, Reid Courmier and Trevor Humphries, participated very successfully in a 4-H Shooting Sports tournament in Angleton, Texas on Saturday, March 21. Competing in the novice classes, Courmier took first place in Skeet, fourth in Trap and fourth in the 5-Stand, and Humphries finished in the Top Ten in each of his three events.
