Younger Lady Bison compete in Groveton

Thirty-four seventh and eighth grade Lady Bison competed recently in the inaugural meet of the 2009 season. Competition was fierce in Groveton as schools from around the area converged to compete in a one division meet. Though the highlights were scattered, Buffalo came home with some hardware.

In the field events, the Lady Bison came away with two fourths and a sixth place finish. Tionna Adams placed fourth in the triple jump and Ana Lopez wound up fourth in the shot put. Kylan Ferguson finished sixth in the long jump.

Maria Sanchez raced to a fifth place finish in the 800 meter dash. Shelby Ballard cruised to a fifth place finish in the 100 meter dash. Adams and Ferguson joined Zelneisha Lockett and Hannah Wilson for a third place finish in the 800 meter relay.

Adams came through with a third place finish in the 200 meter dash and seventh grader Julie Cook was the fifth place finisher in the 1600 meter run. This week is Spring Break,. The next high school track meet will be March 26 at the Centerville Relays. The next Junior High Meet will be at Centerville on March 27th. Leon will compete at Moody on March 28th.
