Bobby Earl Madkins
Funeral services for Rev. Bobby Earl Madkins, age 48, of Wilmer, Texas were held Sunday, March 15, 2009 in the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. Interment followed in the Two-Mile Paradise Cemetery east of Leona. Pastor Billy Green, pastor of the Morning Star Word of Life Church, officiated and Rev. Hardin L. Ward, brother in-law of the deceased and pastor of the Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, brought the eulogy.
Bobby E. Madkins was born to the parentage of Robert and Geneva Madkins (preceded him in death) on July 15, 1960. He was educated in the Centerville School District, graduating from Centerville High School in 1978. Shortly after graduation, Bobby moved to Ft. Bragg North Carolina where he met Peggy Prust-Thomas in 1980. They were married June 17, 1989.
Bobby was called into the Ministry to preach the gospel in November 1992, under the leadership of Pastor Hardin L. Ward, Jr. Shortly afterwards, he became the Pastor of Middle Branch Missionary Baptist Church. During this time he enrolled in D. Edwin Johnson Baptist Institute where he received his diploma in Pastoral Ministries. Bobby also pastored Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and Mt. Calm Pinetop Baptist Church, both of Leona County where he served faithfully until he was called home to be with the Lord. He served as Vice Moderator for the Centerville District Association for four years. Bobby was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother; above all, he loved the Lord.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Peggy Madkins; five children, Moshekia Bells, Bobby Madkins, Jr., Jeromie Madkins, Kenny Prust (Debbie), Sanya Droessler (Jeramiah); nine sisters, Dorothy Christian, Ella Banks, Jean Greene, Fannie Ward (Hardin), Georgia Green (Billy), Betty Neely (Donald), Patricia Banks (Cecil), Shirley Lilly (Timothy), Cynthia Davis (Darryl); one brother, Robert Madkins, Jr.(Beverly); thirteen grandchildren, one godson, Patrick Madkins, Jr.; a host of relatives and friends and mother-in-law, Phyllys M. Prust.
Honorary pallbearers were: Cecil Banks, Reverend Robert Madkins, Jr., Donald Neely, Reverend Timothy Liyyy, Darryl Davis, Milton Greene and Jeromie Madkins. Pallbearers were: Bobby Madkins, Jr., Joshua Ward, Reginald Ward, Timothy Lilly, Jr., Kenneth Prust and Marcus Bailey.
