City of Oakwood adopts new ordinances
Oakwood City Chief of Police presents proposed city ordinances to the City Council. Sherry's Shots The Oakwood City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 10 with all council members present.
Oakwood Chief of Police Oly Ivy was asked in a previous meeting to submit some of the most needed ordinances which will help make Oakwood a better place to live. After consulting with other cities Chief Ivy came up with the following ordinances, summarized: 1. No fireworks will be allowed within the city limits, with the exception of sparklers. 2. No loose livestock or dogs will be allowed within the city limits and there will be no animal shelter provided. 3. Loud or annoying noises will be prohibited. 4. Real property within the city limits must be properly maintained. Those who do not maintain their property within the city limits will be served a 10 day notice. If the property is not cleaned up within the ten days further action will be taken.
The Council voted to adopt the ordinances and thanked Chief ivy for his diligence.
Mayor Vicki Stroud reported that four individuals are interested in the City Judge position. The Council agreed to hold a special meeting on Monday March 23 at 6:00 p.m. to meet the candidates.
