Thirty-four seventh and eighth grade Lady Bison competed recently in the inaugural meet of the 2009 season. Competition was fierce in Groveton as schools from around the area converged to compete in a one division meet. Though the highlights were scattered, Buffalo came home with some hardware. More ... Buffalo High School held cheerleader tryouts last week and selected their 2009-10 varsity and junior varsity squads. Keri Hawthorne and Tristan Brewer will lead the varsity team as captain and co-captain. Rounding out the squad will be Perla Holguin, Kayla Scott, Kara Sadler, Taylor Ayers, and Laken McCabe. Raul Carillo will serve as the Bison mascot, Bucky. More ... The Buffalo Junior High boys track teams blew away the competition at the Groveton Relays last Friday, March 6. The eighth graders scored 165 points, edging out second place Teague (151). In the seventh grade competition, the Bisons' 165 points smoked everyone. Teague was second again with 98 points. More ... Buffalo and Centerville faced off in district baseball action on Tuesday afternoon at the BHS field. Logan Beard started on the mound for BHS and Devin Smith was the starting pitcher for the Tigers. The game was scoreless through two innings but the Tigers drew first blood in the top of the third as #`1 scored on an RBI single by Jeremy Hammock. More ... It was a cross-county battle Tuesday afternoon when the Centerville Lady Tigers and the Buffalo Lady Bison matched up for a district softball contest. Much ado had been made on both sides in preparation for the contest, but from start to finish, Centerville controlled the contest, taking a 7-0 win over the Lady Bison. More ... |
