Hampton Inn & Suites opens new property in Buffalo
      The new Hampton Inn & Suites quietly opened their doors on Tuesday afternoon, welcoming guests and members of the community to check out their handsome new facility. Step Outside
      An old picture is thumb tacked to the wall in my land office. It carbon dates back to the era of drugstore film development. The photo is of a strapping young fellow holding two huge Black Bass, one in each fist. Scrawled on the back of the picture is the date 3-5-98.

      AARP will meet in regular session on Tuesday, March 17th at the Buffalo Civic Center. Bring your favorite dish for a wonderful meal. Mr. Glenn Connor, with Guardian Angel DME, will give us some important information on equipment that we, as seniors, might need now or in the future.

Headstart Home Based Program to begin accepting applications
      The Headstart Leon County Home Based Program will soon be taking applications for the 2009-2010 school year for three to four year-olds, as of September 1. The program offers 1 and 1/2 hour home visits to get children ready for school. Special needs children are accepted.

Kids' Kamps Need Your Help
      Do you remember seeing all the pictures and reading in the newspapers about Kids' Kamps last summer? In case you didn't know, most of these were provided through our local county Extension office. Kids were provided with day camp activities to enrich their summer. They were excited to be fishing, gardening, cooking, and learning about future project opportunities with 4-H.

Stewart Memorial honors Ida Munday
      Several members of the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church family got together on Thursday to honor Ida Munday. Ida has served as director of both the SMUMC church choir and of the Red Hat Band, and her friends planned a luncheon to share memories of their time together. Ida has relocated to Whitehouse, Texas to be nearer her daughter's family.

Texas Unemployment Rate Rises to 6.4 Percent
      AUSTIN — Texas' seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 6.4 percent in January, while the U.S. unemployment rate climbed to 7.6 percent. Texas' unemployment rate has consistently remained well below the national rate for the past year. The Texas unemployment rate for January is up from a revised 5.6 percent in December and 4.4 percent a year ago.

Dixie come home
      Dixie is a 5yr old female black toy poodle. She escaped out of the dog run Wednesday March 4th and was last seen at the end of Center St in Buffalo. She is wearing a red plaid collar with black bones on it. She sometimes has a funny limp on her back left leg due to a surgery a few yrs ago.

City of Centerville calls for election for three places on Council
      The City of Centerville Council held its regular meeting on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building Meeting Room. The Council declared a City election to be held on May 9, 2009 to elect three Council members. Two positions up for election are those currently being held by John Franks and Lawrence Johnson.
