Free Safety Awareness and

Self Defense Workshop -- There will be no charge for a Safety Awareness and Self Defense Workshop for ages 13 and up, at the Centerville Jr/Sr. High old gym on Saturday February 28, 2:00-5:00 p.m. The program is being presented by presented by SARC (Sexual Assault Resource Center) and will include instruction in self defense manuevers by Kyoshi Raymond Montoya and a law enforcement panel discussing: personal safety, domestic violence and the law, and questions from the audience. There will also be raffle prizes. (This workshop is being sponsored by Leon County Victims Services, Leon County Domestic Violence Victims Advocates, Leon County Law Enforcement and Montoya's Shorin Kempo Karate.)

A fish supper for lent will be held at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church Parish Hall on Fridays March 6, 13, and 27 and April 3 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 200 N. Merrill St. in Buffalo.

A "Miscellaneous Auction" will be held at the Lone Star Community Center on March 7. The viewing will start at 5:00 p.m. followed by the sale at 6:00.

Biologists from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will host a Wildlife Tax Valuation Workshop on Saturday, March 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Gus Engeling Wildlife Management Area Wildlife Conservation Center at 16149 N. Lone Star Community Center in Flo on FM 831 will hold its annual auction on March 7, 2009. Items include furniture, antiques, tools and much, much more. Viewing of items will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the sale will start at 6:00 p.m. Concession will be available.
