Centerville ISD Board extends administrators contracts The Centerville ISD Board held its regular meeting on February 18, 2009 in the High School Library. Among other items on the agenda was the proposal for the extension of contracts for Cathy Nichols, Carole Dickey, Bob Loomis, Jason Jeitz, Kyle Hardee, Kathy Pierce, Dan Parker and Jason Evans. The Board voted unanimously to extend the contracts. An Election for Board of Trustees for Positions 3 (Charles Nash), 4 (Mike Asby) and 5 (Kathy Gresham, was called for May 9, 2009. Election judges were determined. Carole Dickey presented the quarterly investment report and the school tax collection status. As of January 31 approximately 88% of current taxes have been collected. The investment report was approved. The Policy Update #84 was discussed and approved. This update addresses a variety of topics, including student instructional issues affected by the Commissioner of Education rules, as well as redeveloped policies on special education, student transportation, disposal of district property, and student use of telecommunication and other electronic devices. A shared services arrangement agreement with Brazos Valley Regional School for the Deaf was approved. Centerville ISD would be responsible for transportation and special education funds would likely cover the costs. The District currently has no students who attend the school. Mrs. Nichols explained that, even with the extremely dry weather, the football field is wet and soggy. Larry Rider of 4E SportsFields has contacted Texas A&M as well as other specialists to try to solve the problem. He has taken soil samples and suggested an irrigation audit. Nichols informed the board of the resignation of Clare Robertson, elementary counselor. Mrs. Robertson is resigning to take a position as counselor at the Ferguson Unit of Texas Department of Criminal Justice. |
