Leon JV Lady Cougars defeat the Marlin Lady 'Dogs

Chelby Stanford (2) drives through two defenders. Sherry's Shots The Leon JV Lady Cougars capped off a great season as they defeated the Marlin Lady Dogs 39-17 in the Leon gym on February 10. The Cougars grabbed a fifteen point lead as the first period ended but the Dogs came back in the second quarter and sliced the margin to nine. The Cougars displayed an outstanding defense in the third period and held the Dogs scoreless while they added sixteen more points on the book to lead by a healthy twenty five points as the third period ended. Coach Engleman substituted freely in the last quarter and rolled on to a decisive 39-17 win.

Coach Engleman completed a perfect district record of 10-0 and lost only one game the whole season. Several JV players will move up to the varsity next year and be able to contribute immediately. Chelby Stanford scored seventeen points and Sharon Coulter contributed ten to pace the Cougars.
