Normangee Lady Panthers fall to Marlin in warm-up game
Sherry's Shots Normangee's Coco Woodall drives in for a lay-up. The undefeated District 22A champions Normangee Lady Panthers traveled to Marlin on February 13 to tangle with the undefeated district 20AA champions Marlin Lady 'Dogs in a warm-up game before the state playoffs begin. The game had no implications to the state playoffs but would provide a good test for both teams. The Marlin Lady 'Dogs had previously defeated the Leon Lady Cougars on February 10 to remain unbeaten in District 20AA. The Lady 'Dogs have a tall, physical team while the Lady Panthers have quickness as their ally.
Normangee jumped to a six-point advantage in the first period and increased that to eight as the half ended. The Lady 'Dogs came out red hot in the third quarter and scored twenty-five points to build an eleven-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The 'Dogs scored twenty five of their fifty-one points in the decisive third period. The Lady Panthers chipped away at the lead and came back to lose by a respectable 51-46 score.

Jessica Green had 20 points, Coco Woodall had 10 and Hilaree Hodges chipped in with 9 to lead the Panthers. Brittney Smith added 5 and Lakayla Brooks tacked on 1 point.
Both coaches were pleased with the performance of their team and are ready for the playoffs to begin in two weeks.
The opponent and the play off date for both teams have not been determined.
