Sheriff's office still searching for Phillips

Law enforcement authorities have new leads in the search for James Lee Phillips, a Centerville man wanted on charges including aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault after a domestic violence incident last week.

Phillips threatened his girlfriend at gunpoint on Sunday night, February 8, and then forced Willie Polk of Leona to drive him to Centerville. Along the way, Leon County deputies were in pursuit and Phillips bailed out of the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods, where he may have taken a pickup which was stolen in the area the same night.

According to Investigating Officer Victor Smith, "We've got leads on him and have recovered additional evidence." The suspect was still not in custody at Press time on Monday.
