Buffalo's Ron Goodwyn (left) proudly congratulates his son, Ryan Goodwyn, on being named Region III 5-A "Regional Coach of the Year". Goodwyn is the head swim coach at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station. His men's team took first in all three relays and won five individual events on the way to claiming the Regional title and his girls' team finished third in the competition at the Mansfield ISD Natatorium on Saturday. The Leon JV Cougars defeated the Marlin JV Bulldogs 38-31 in the Leon Gym on February 10 in a tightly contested game. Both teams started extremely cold as the Cougars trailed 5-6 as the first period ended but found the range in the second quarter and built an eleven point advantage as the first half ended. More ... The Leon Lady Cougars lost to the Marlin Bulldogs 59- 54 in a game that decided the district 20AA championship. The Cougars came into the game with their only loss in district to the Lady Dogs on January 23 in Marlin. The game was played before a packed house in the Leon gym. More ... The Leon JV Lady Cougars capped off a great season as they defeated the Marlin Lady Dogs 39-17 in the Leon gym on February 10. The Cougars grabbed a fifteen point lead as the first period ended but the Dogs came back in the second quarter and sliced the margin to nine. More ... Centerville VS Onalaska The Centerville Tigers traveled to Onalaska on February 10 and dropped a district game 50-35. The Tigers jumped on top in the first period and led by seven but the Tigers were held to two points in the second quarter and trailed by eight at intermission. More ... The Oakwood Lady Panthers ended their regular season as co-champions of District 14A with Neches. In the latest 1A Division II State rankings, Neches is ranked #2 and Oakwood #3. The Lady Panthers traveled to Tyler Junior College on February 16 to face third place Union Hill Lady Bulldogs scoring an overwhelming victory, 102 to 25. More ... MGA results for February 4. VS CORRIGAN In Junior Varsity action at BHS on Tuesday, the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs came out guns a-blazing and knocked down two 3-pointers in the opening quarter to lead the Bison by one, 9-8. Buffalo went stone-cold in the second quarter and the Bulldogs extended their lead to 20-10 at halftime and were up by 12 going into the final period. More ... SEVENTH GRADE The youngest Bison wrapped up a stellar season by barreling through the district tournament in Trinity. Buffalo faced Onalaska in the first round and established their dominance early, outscoring their opponent 24-0 in the first quarter, then went on to win 40-6. Brendon Smith and Logan Jones led the Bison with ten points each. More ... The Bison powerlifters, coached by Clay Hodges and assistant Coach Jerry Russ, have been putting in some tough training in preparation for their spring sport. Their work has been paying off with success at their meets. More ... The Lady Bison hosted Corrigan-Camden for their final home game of the season. Prior to the contest, seniors Jami Davis, Ashley Elsom and Heather McKelroy were recognized along with their parents. After a close first half, the Lady Bison were able to pull away for a 54-36 win.
