TDA Market Recap February 9, 2009
      AUSTIN - (Feb. 9, 2009) For the week ending Feb. 7, 2009, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were steady to $7 higher per hundredweight, with most of the trade $2 to $4 higher. Markets were supported by the lighter numbers being offered for sale and a USDA cattle report that said inventories were smaller than expected. Fed cattle prices were slightly higher.

Texas is Number One Exporting State for 7th Consecutive Year
      AUSTIN - The U.S. Department of Commerce has named Texas the top exporting state in the nation for the seventh year in a row based on 2008 export data. Texas' exports increased more than 14 percent over the last year, totaling $192.14 billion, approximately $23.92 billion more than 2007.

4-H Clothing and Textiles visits College Station
     The Leon County 4-H Clothing and Textiles group traveled to Witt's End in College Station, TX, where owner Karen Kasper shared information about the fashion industry. Mrs. Kasper has owned Witt's End, a women's apparel boutique, for about 18 years, and was eager to share with the 4-H group how clothing is selected and priced to be sold to consumers.

      FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- Jacob Rodell of Buffalo, Texas, a Buffalo FFA member, was among the winners in the Calf Scramble event during the February 4, 2009 evening performance of the Rodeo at the 113th edition of the legendary Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.
