Cindy Pate presented the minutes and financial report and they were approved. Chief Richard Blanchard read a resignation letter from assistant chief Ron Carmichael. Carmichael does not have the time because of other commitments to devote to being the assistant chief. Carmichael will continue to support the department any way he can. An assistant chief will be elected in the March meet- ing. The department has new radios in all the trucks now. A question was raised if there is a better way to notify Leon county residents when a burn ban is in effect. Purchasing signs to put up along the major highways was suggested. The point was made that some elderly people do not have a radio, TV, or telephone and do not know when a burn ban is in effect.

Chief Blanchard said the department has received a grant to purchase a lap top computer and a projector to be used for training members.
