Gang awareness draws good crowd

There was good attendance at the Thursday evening meeting hosted by BISD to make parents aware of signs of gang activity. After an introduction by Superintendent Jackie Thomason, BHS Principal Don Elsom described what to watch for to determine your child is getting involved in gang activity. The BISD staff had been through the same training before the Christmas break.

Thursday's presentation include a slide show with local examples of "tagging" (gang-related grafitti) on buildings, ditches, overpasses, street signs, etc. It is recommended that any tagging be covered over with spraypaint as quickly as possible.
