Fourth annual Leon County landscape school sees attendance growth
Dr. Steven George discusses Earthkind gardening
      The Texas Agrilife Extension Service in Leon County hosted its annual Home Landscape School on January 31, 2009. The Keynote speaker this year was Texas AgriLife Extension landscape horticultural specialist Dr. Steven George. Each year the program has grown and this year was no exception with over 75 people in attendance.

      AUSTIN - Today, in his address at the Cuba-U.S. Relations Symposium at the University of Texas, Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples announced his efforts to expand trade relations with Cuba. Commissioner Staples called on President Barack Obama to help expand trade opportunities with Cuba.

      FORT WORTH, TEXAS - Daniel Wood, an FFA member from Buffalo, exhibited a First Place Summer Heifer Calf in the Beefmaster Junior Breeding Beef Heifer Show and Amy Terry, an FFA member from Buffalo, exhibited a First Place Early Spring Heifer Calf in the Brahman Junior Breeding Beef Heifer Show at the 2009 legendary Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on January 26, 2009.

      Leon County gardeners are getting "itchy green thumbs" about now. They want to jump-start their spring gardens. South Texas begins to plant spring gardens in late February and March. Central Texas begins one to two weeks later. The northern part of the state begins planting in early April, as the season permits.
