Janice "Susie" Teddlie
Funeral services for Janice "Susie" Teddlie age 72, of Buffalo are schuduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo, Texas. Rev. Kevin Gilmore, Rev. Bill Webb, and Rev. Hiram "Doc" Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Buffalo City Cemetery. Walters Buffalo Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 26, 2009 from 1 until 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 pm until 7 pm. at the Walters Buffalo Funeral Home.
Janice "Susie" Teddlie was born on April 8, 1936 in Corsicana, Texas to William and Dorothy (Owen) Plunkett. She was a lifelong resident of Buffalo. She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1954 and Sam Houston State University in 1958. She returned to SHSU for two Masters Degrees in Education and Library Science. Her forty one year teaching career was spent in Buffalo ISD where she taught Home Economics, 3rd Grade, Jr. High Language Arts, Senior English, and then served as District Librarian. Through the years, she sponsored several student activities which include Bison Yearbook Staff, National Honor Society, Future Homemakers of America, and Jr. High Cheerleaders.
Susie was an active member of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church. She shared her musical talents for over forty five years through serving as organist, choir member, and choir director. Susie is a former member of the Board of Trustees for Lakeview Methodist Conference Center where she also directed summer camps for many years.
After retirement, she participated in two misson trips to the orphanages in Tomsk, Siberia and one trip to Homer, Alaska. Susie was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star # 157, Leon County A&M Club, and Buffalo Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. Teddlie passed away Saturday morning, January 24, 2009 in Buffalo, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reg Teddlie; two grandchildren, Dean Stewart and Trey Reid; and a son in-law D.J. Reid.
Mrs. Teddlie is survived by one son; Stephen Teddlie of Carrollton, Texas; two daughters, Charlotte Sessom and husband Bryan of Lubbock, Texas, and Carolyn Ferguson and husband, David of Buffalo, Texas; two brothers, Don Plunkett and wife, Lana of Madisonville, Texas, and Charles Plunkett and wife, Ruth of Fayetteville, Ga.; one sister, Kay "Sally" Vann and husband, Thomas of Tomball, Texas; three grandchildren, Cassie Ferguson, Allison Sessom and Emily Sessom.
The pallbearers are Clay Plunkett, Russell Bailey, Scott Miles, Jesse Cuellar, Keith Vann, and Billy Plunkett.
