Matching the eighth grade team's two wins and one loss in the Centerville Tournament, the seventh grade had different results. Buffalo seventh graders lost the Saturday morning game and wound up in third place. Buffalo defeated Teague on Thursday and on Saturday. A loss to Franklin was sandwiched in between. More ... The Lady Panthers hosted Kennard on January 20 and had a close game for three quarters before exploding in the fourth period and winning 50-24. The Panthers led 19-15 at half time and 26- 20 as the third quarter ended. They found their shooting touch in the fourth period and scored twenty four points and won easily 50-24. More ... Six points separated two Leon County schools in the finals of the Centerville Tournament. Buffalo drew the short end of a 30-36 final to take home the second place trophy. Centerville was the champion. On the way to the match up, Buffalo knocked off Teague and Franklin by landslides. More ... The Panthers continue to play hard but lost to Kennard 38-33 on January 20 and traveled to Douglas and were defeated 51-42. Both contests were very competitive but the shots just didn't fall for the Panthers. More ... After losing several close games the Centerville Tigers won an easy game from Groveton 74-40 in Centerville on January 20. The victory left the Tigers with a 2-4 record in district play. The Tigers had a four point lead into the second quarter and increased that to a ten point advantage at half time. More ... The Leon Lady Cougars defeated the Rosebud-Lott Cougars 61-41 on January 20 but traveled to Marlin on January 23 and suffered their first loss in district 52-46 to the Bulldogs. The junior high Lady Bison hosted Centerville last Thursday night. The seventh grade pulled off a come-from -behind victory to win 41-32. The eighth grade struggled with the Lady Tigers aggressive press and fell 56-18. Buffalo will wrap up the regular season on Monday when Anderson-Shiro comes to Bison Gym. New Waverly will host the district tournament. More ... The Bison junior varsity men struggled in the dark gym at Trinity High School on Tuesday evening. It was "one of those nights" -- nothing would fall in the first quarter, and things improved only slightly as the game went on. Trinity led 17-7 at halftime and took the win, 38-20. More ... VS TRINITY BHS travelled to Trinity last Tuesday, where the Lady Bison junior varsity pulled out 25-19 win. Neither junior varsity team could get a shot to fall at the start of the game Tuesday night. Buffalo managed one lay up in the first period to nudge ahead of Trinity who finished with a free throw. More ... BHS split in district play this week with a win away and a tough loss at home. VS TRINITY The Bison men won on the road on Tuesday night at Trinity to improve their district record to 4-2. Both teams leaned heavily on the three-point shot and the scoreboard reflected that with broad swings throughout the game. More ... VS TRINITY LADY TIGERS Going into Tuesday's game in Trinity, the Lady Tigers and Lady Bison were tied for third place. In a bizarre turn of events, the lead flip-flopped in the last minute of play and Trinity walked away with a 56-49 win. Buffalo had won their previous encounter in December. More ... |
