Productive January AARP meeting
      Members of Buffalo's AARP enjoyed a potluck dinner and fine fellowship at their regular monthly on January 20. A highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the chapter's annual donations to local organizations.

Annual 4-H Omelette Supper -- always a hit
      Local folks either really love eggs OR they enjoy supporting area kids. Either way, the annual 4-H omelette supper held at the BHS cafeteria during last Friday's high school basketball games was a big hit, as always. The 4-H members donned aprons, manned their burners and weilded their spatulas like professionals.

Over 300 4-H'ers gather for Project Day
      Over 300 4-H members and adult leaders participate at the 4th Annual Leon County 4-H Livestock Project Day. This event was held at the Yellow Rose Arena on January 17, 2009. Participants had the opportunity to hear from quality leaders in the livestock industry on feeding, showmanship, and proper care of livestock projects.

Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center offers bird and nature walks
      ATHENS, Texas—The first in a series of monthly bird and nature walks at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center will take place at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14. Leading the walks will be Jim Booker, events coordinator at TFFC. Booker has been watching and banding birds since the age of 13.
