Van'Go'photo An impressive scoring run fueled a district win for the Bison on Tuesday when they hosted the Anderson- Shiro Owls. The teams traded buckets through the first quarter, when the Bison held a 14-13 lead. A-S took the lead early in the second, then Coach Warren Ringland's Bison went on a 24-point run while holding the Owls scoreless, jumping out to lead 42-17 early in the third quarter. From there the Bison cruised on to a 57-33 win. Jordan Canady led all scorers with 18 points, followed by Micah Burnside-Jones with 10. Jesus Davis had 9 points, including a pair of treys, and Ryan Read hit a pair from outside the arc, as well, on his way to a 7-point game. Saxton Simes had 4 points and a big night under the boards. Andrew Houston scored 4, and Chad Nelson and Kirby McNair added 2 each

VS CORRIGAN-CAMDEN

The Buffalo Bison travelled to Corrigan-Camden for district play on Friday. Still short-handed, and facing a very talented team, the Bison gave their all for four quarters but could not pull off an upset. The Bulldogs won the contest, 48-37.

Jordan Canady announced that the Bison had come to play by draining the net for 3 points in the opening seconds of the game, and BHS led until late in the first quarter. C-C took the lead on a steal and added two more at the charity line as they capitalized on a technical foul. Buffalo hit seven of eight free throw opportunities in the first quarter and trailed by two, 10-12, after the first period.

Turnovers plagued the Bison in the second quarter and the Bulldogs stretched their lead to six at halftime. Coach Ringland's men reined in the turnovers in the third and six Bison players scored to keep things close. BHS closed the gap to five points going into the final quarter, but their shots would not fall in the fourth and Corrigan pulled away and clinched the victory.

Canady led his teammates with 15 points. Micah Burnside-Jones, Kirby Mc- Nair and Saxton Sims each added 4. Ryan Read and Jesus Davis scored 3 apiece, and Chad Nelson and Andrew Houston each added a bucket. The Bison hit 78% (7 of 9) of their free throws. C-C had 18 opportunities and sank 9.

THIS WEEK the Bison travel to Trinity on Tuesday and host New Waverly on Friday to finish Round One of district play. The Bison will be looking to improve their 3-2 district record, so come out to support them!
